It's 1899, and inventor Hiram Codon is ready to launch the first manned rocket into space. The trouble is that he keeps losing pilots. After a rash of mishaps and sabotage attempts, only two people have not fled the operation-Ravi Mukherjee, Hiram's reluctant assistant and Sophia Westbridge the intrepid daughter of a British army officer. With Hiram's rivals and backers both closing in to take the rocket for their own ends, Ravi must decide whether to risk everything to make history and further scientific progress-not to mention impress the girl-or stop Hiram's mad scheme before it gets them all killed.

The Sun Never Sets is a rollicking read that spans from India to Africa to outer space and then back again.Set in 1899, tenacious scientist Hiram Condon has invented the first manned rocket to space and plans to launch it as soon as possible - that is, if he can manage to outwit his thieving German partner and the British Navy. His only hope is Ravi, his perpetually underestimated Indian assistant, and Sophie, the daring daughter of Naval officer.
The Sun Never Sets is full of adventure, steam-punk science, flying dirigibles, rockets, lighting guns, African bush warriors, air skirmishes, humor, German antagonists, a Kodak Number One camera, hoity-toity British officers who thankfully get their comeuppance, and a dash of romance. I particularly enjoyed the lovable Ravi and the determined Sophia - an exceptionally strong female character.
If you're looking for a quick, fun read with delightful characters and rip-roaring adventure then I would highly recommend this read.

The Sun Never Sets eBook Cate Caldwell Matt Pearson Reviews
Steam-punk with real science. A very clever person in the 19'th century could have built a functional rocket. Our hero isn't one of them, but he runs into the folks who are up on the latest chemistry and machining techniques. He also runs afoul of folks who want to steal this brand new technology. And, of course, he meets the beautiful girl embedded in the escapades.
The characters are well drawn, the action is non-stop, the plot is believable, and the dialog flows naturally.
This is a fun read.
I enjoyed reading this on my . Once started, it was difficult to put down.
This is one of those great stories that you just want to read non-stop! The characters are original and engaging, the humor is subtle, bringing a smile, just a joy to read. The plot for the story itself is well thought out and keeps you reading, wondering what might happen next. I just can't recommend this too highly. Hopefully the authors are busily at work creating the next novel to continue on - yes I need to know what happens next!
I really enjoyed this book. It struck me as a kind of steam-punk Raiders of the Lost Ark, with exotic locales, action, suspense, and FUN. You get the sense that a lot more thought went into crafting this book than is explicitly present on the page, and that makes for a stronger, richer story and characters.
I laughed out loud several times reading this book, though it's not foremost a comic story. Overall, it's just an engaging, exciting story, in an interesting world, with likable characters, believable conflicts, and again, fun.
I don't have a lot of of free time to read fiction, so I'm always nervous about committing to a novel. This one paid off! Worthwhile and enjoyable.
